Established in 1998, the Prince George Backcountry Recreation Society (PGBRS) is a not-for-profit society with no paid staff and is run entirely by the efforts of volunteers. The PGBRS was incorporated to support local non-motorized recreation clubs, societies and groups in the central interior of British Columbia.
Prince George is situated on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, part of the Dakelh (Carrier) First Nations, however, some of our activities do occur on other nearby traditional territories.
The PGBRS is involved in several backcountry recreation-related issues such as access management, cabin management, advocacy and education.
The PGBRS and member clubs are involved in the management and maintenance of several trails and cabins in the region through agreements with BC Parks and Recreation Sites and Trails BC.
