Bolt fund

Hi Prince George climbers!

The outdoor rock climbing scene in Prince George is growing!  As many of you know, the Viking slabs area opened a few years ago and the Purgatory crag near Sugarbowl was opened this spring.  Both areas had a fair bit of local interest over the summer.  Development continues at Purgatory and we’re hoping to share news soon on two additional crags that are being explored for future development.

Developing outdoor routes can be expensive and time-consuming, and we’d like to offer the climbing community a chance to support local developers.  A typical route, consisting of 10 bolts and an anchor, costs roughly $100 in hardware (hangers, bolts and anchors).  If you’d like to support the development of more outdoor climbing in the area:

  1. Hardware and cash donations can be dropped off at the OVERhang.  There is a donation box near the front desk.
  2. Cash donations can also be made here (button below) or by e-transfering money to PGBRS ([email protected]). Please make sure to indicate that your donation is for climbing development.

Any amount is a help!  Cash contributions will be used to purchase hardware.  If you would prefer to purchase hardware for donation, we suggest hangers and 3” stainless steel bolts from Climb On Equipment in Squamish.

We’d also like to recognize the local support we’ve received to date.  Thanks for your consideration and see you out there in 2025.
