General area: Mt. Murray - Yellowhawk Trail, Wells Area
Trip start date: 2022-08-09
Mt Murray – Yellowhawk trail past Wells, was an absolute stunner with not a cloud in sight all day! We made it all the way to Mt. Murray to check out the lake and ridge which is blooming with flowers right now. The bugs were horrible (as is everywhere right now) so be prepared if you head up that way.
We took the Yellowhawk Trail all the way to Mt Murray to see if we could possibly go to the cabin on our way. We did not end up going to the cabin as it was very overgrown and to conquer that in heat and with the bugs was not so able for the day so, we headed on our way to the top. The Yellowhawk trail at the tail end before it meets up with the Hump bypass has a straight-down rocky section that we found was a little tedious and can only imagine how it would be with rain.
We took the Hump bypass on the way back down the trail and it was a very pleasant part of the trail compared to the Yellowhawk section.
There is no water after the first Km or so until the lake so take lots of water if needed.
As we were leaving for the day the Forest Firefighters were heading up and doing trail maintenance so, the trail is very well maintained at the moment. The road to the trail is just past Wells as your heading towards Bowron Lake and only 6km down the bush road and do able in a car.
